February is shaping up to be a big month for news at Read Riordan. Check out this big new development for Rick Riordan Presents!

Publishers Weekly reports that Daniel José Older, the acclaimed author behind everything from the Shadowshaper Cypher series to novels and comics for the new Star Wars: The High Republic series, has signed on to write two young adult novels for RRP. The urban fantasy series is called Outlaw Saints and is “about a teen who discovers that he has the capability to save New York City from being destroyed by an ancient evil force.” The first book, Ballad & Dagger, hits shelves in May 2022, with the second to arrive the following year.

As expected, Rick is at least as excited as we are about this: “I’ve been dying to work with Daniel ever since I read Shadowshaper. I’m thrilled to have the chance to help Daniel bring to the world our first YA titles a series based on his own rich and varied heritage.”
