Fever, aches, high temperature, sleeping all day.
It could just be the flu.
Or it could be that you accidentally exposed your relative to an evil Bridge Spirit who has captured their mortal soul. Here are some tell-tale signs that your loved one may need a new diagnosis . . .
You Crossed a Barrier You Weren’t Supposed To
Maybe you were peer pressured into it. Still, that’s no excuse to trespass. Heed all warnings of cursed areas, even if it’s a simple do not enter sign. Especially if it’s an area where a little girl once died. It’s likely her spirit is still there, just waiting for someone to keep her company. Do not approach her under any circumstance.
But then again, she looks so sad. . . . It couldn’t hurt just to say hello, right?
You Made a Spirit Angry
Some spirits—when they don’t get what they want—tend to lash out at their visitors. Usually, when a little girl throws a tantrum, it doesn’t feel like the world is coming to an end. But in this case, expect a lot of screaming and a few unexpected ice storms in your direct vicinity, and minor pain searing through your soul. At this point, it’s probably too late to offer her a nice lollipop to calm her down.
Your House Spirits Are Totally Freaking Out
Trust us when we tell you that your house spirits know what they’re talking about. If the stove says, You’ve brought something wicked into the house. Consequences will be paid, it’s time to ditch the Tylenol and seek other forms of treatment.
Yes, we know the microwave said the same thing when you tried to reheat that three-week-old burrito, but that was a different situation entirely.
You Find Yourself on a Quest in the Spirit Realm
Break out the gong and the short sword and prepare for an overnight stay in the Spirit Realm. The only way to save your loved one is to venture on a journey of self-discovery with new friends, new enemies, and maybe even a new perspective on the entire situation. Who knows? You may even be able to wield an awesome new lightning ax.
Not that we condone bothering restless spirits. But you’ve got to make the best of a bad situation. And if that translates to kicking evil demons in the face, then so be it.
