The first thing you need to know about Zhong: She’s a tiny eleven-year-old girl who wears shiny buttons on her denim jacket. Second thing you need to know about Zhong: She could absolutely destroy you in a one-on-one fight. Long story short, don’t underestimate this girl. Or else you’re totally going to eat your words the next time you need to be rescued from a hungry wolf demon.
Top of Her Class
Not just anyone can attend the School for Shamanic Arts and Spiritual Mastery. It takes a very smart, very dedicated person to excel as a shaman. And you’d better believe that Zhong is on the fast track to graduating as valedictorian, thereby becoming a legendary shaman warrior. Just, um . . . don’t ask to see her latest report card.
Armed to the Teeth
How many eleven-year-olds do you know who are proficient with a crossbow? Not only that, Zhong is also a master in the art of sword fighting. What can we say? The school starts them young. While you were learning how to color inside the lines, young shamans were learning how to paint the battlefield red with the blood of demons. She could also probably beat you at any video game of your choosing.
Meet the Pretender Supreme
But all that training and studying doesn’t amount to much when Zhong finds herself face-to-face with a natural like Pahua. Even though she’s never stepped foot inside a shaman school, this Pahua girl seems to be supremely gifted when it comes to battling evil demons and spirits. And you’d never be able to guess that just by looking at her. Or even talking to her. And yet, the amateur has some serious skills. Like she was born with them.
It kind of makes you want to rethink this whole “academia” thing, you know?
