Stop us if you’ve heard this one. Girl spends almost a hundred years drifting in the underworld. Boy is cursed to die when a tiny piece of wood burns up. Girl and boy both discover they’re Roman demigods. Girl meets boy, and together they must save the world from the wrath of the primordial goddess of the Earth. Somewhere along the line, they start smooching.
We know, we know, it’s a classic love story we’ve all heard a million times before.
In all seriousness, Hazel and Frank’s relationship serves a reminder that—whether you’ve been around for nearly a century or you’re fated to perish at any given moment—it’s the connections we form and the love we share that bring meaning and color to our lives. That’s why we wanted to track the complete timeline of this Roman power couple.

• Frank flies into a rage when Hazel is poisoned by katoblepones. In order to save Hazel’s life and curry favor with Triptolemus, Frank defeats all of the katoblepones in Italy. In the process, Frank is blessed by his godly father, Mars, and becomes more physically powerful.
• Hazel worries that Frank’s transformation will affect his personality, but her fears quickly prove to be unfounded.

The Tyrant’s Tomb
• Frank intentionally sets his piece of wood ablaze in order to defeat the evil Roman Emperor Caligula. When Hazel hears the news, she assumes he sacrificed his life for the greater good. Miraculously, Frank survives the ordeal and his curse is lifted forever.
• Following the battle at New Rome, Hazel is named praetor and becomes Frank’s equal in the Twelfth Legion Fulminata.
Unlike most of their fellow Heroes of Olympus, these two are still heavily involved in the day-to-day running of Camp Jupiter. Now that Frank is finally free of his curse, we can only hope that the couple can take an extended vacation one of these days and truly enjoy their time together.
And hopefully Frank will keep the Mythomagic cards at home this time.
