Today on Read Riordan we’re experimenting with something new. We came across a fascinating amateur blog called Eye in the Sky that’s published by Ren Santiago, a young investigator of extraterrestrial life. We were so captivated by it that we asked Ren to share what she knows about some unexplainable events that have recently occurred across North America. Do they point to the existence of life beyond Earth? Could they prove her theory that there’s a connection between aliens and ancient Maya civilization? You decide!
REAL-LIFE ALIEN SIGHTING IN KANSAS?!
Okay, now that I’ve got your attention, let me tell you all about recent rumors coming out of the Midwest. According to our sources, six unidentified figures have been linked to recent lightning storms and unexplainable “monster light shows” spotted in a local cornfield.
And it gets even weirder! Apparently, one of the unidentified figures has blue skin, sharp fangs, and glowing eyes! And another transformed into a giant snake! These things could totally be aliens!
But they could also totally be demons. And if so, this could be the work of Ixtab, Maya goddess of the underworld. Only one way to find out.
That’s why the Eye in the Sky team of expert investigators (me and my buddy Marco) have departed to the Sunflower State to learn more. Please feel free to share some recommendations for decent restaurants while we’re there. Knowing Marco, we’re going to be stopping at a lot of fast food joints.
Translucent Girl Spotted in Waco?!
We’ve heard firsthand accounts of a translucent girl haunting Waco, Texas. My sources tell me that she’s young, blond, and perpetually fading in and out of reality. It seems like she’s desperate to deliver a message but can’t quite get the words out. Something like, “Wake . . . Lords . . . Hollywood . . . Help.”
If any of you readers have information about this girl, please send me an email. I gotta be honest—she kinda freaks me out a bit. I mean, she would freak me out if I ever saw her in real life. Which I totally haven’t, just to be clear.
Mysterious Voice in Shadow Prison Delivers Ominous Warning?!
And speaking of ominous messages, has anyone ever heard of “shadow prisons” before? I can’t reveal much (and I don’t know if they’re related to aliens at all), but I can tell you that you’re going to want to avoid them at all costs. So stay away from anything that resembles a black hole.
Sources tell me that if you end up inside of one of these shadow prisons, it may be impossible to escape without outside help. Rumor has it that someone or something resides in these prisons and is desperate to make sure that you stay . . .
Thankfully, I have a very old friend I can call on to help me make sense of these strange events. Well, he’s not an old friend—we haven’t known each other for super long. What I mean to say is that he’s an old man. Well, actually, he looks like a teenager, so he’s not technically an old man. Argh, never mind!
I know this is a lot to take in. And for the uninitiated, I probably sound like I’m out of my mind, but I promise I’m telling the truth. Or at least as much of the truth as I’m technically allowed to share.
So please, if you’re even thinking about posting more mean comments about me . . .
KEEP THEM TO YOURSELF FOR ONCE!!!!!
Oh, and Abuelo, if you’re reading this, I promise I’m totally safe and I’ll be home very soon!
Well, that was certainly . . . thought-provoking. Good luck to Ren and her friends on their adventure. We sincerely hope she receives all the help she needs. . .
