A very long time ago in the world of A Drop of Venom, the gateways between worlds were once opened, unleashing monsters into the mortal realm. In order to fight them and bring balance, the slayers were born. Super-human, agile, strong, and intelligent, slayers are the kingdom’s fiercest line of defense against the brooding darkness. Over time, the slayers began to die out, until there was only one left. Meet Pratyush, the last slayer of monsters.
Kept hidden from the King until the untimely demise of his parents, Pratyush once lived a normal life. But since being found by the King, Pratyush has been training and killing monsters like it’s his job. Maybe because it is his job. A forced servitude, one which he takes upon himself with great care. Without further ado, let’s meet our young monster hunter in a game we call “Confessions of a Teenage Slayer.”
Pratyush, please tell adoring fans around the word your idea of fun.
Praytush: I haven’t known that word for a very long time, but I can guess what I think would be fun. Dev—I suppose he’s like a best friend—had a wedding a couple years ago. I think it would’ve been fun to attend, to finally wear a proper sherwani and mojri.
How fancy! Speaking of weddings, how are your dancing skills?
Pratyush: I’m sure they would be better if someone (coughs) had invited me to his wedding.
Oh, yikes! Sensing some hard feelings. Let’s move on. What’s your favorite drink?
Pratyush: Everyone’s heard of mango lassi, but have you tried jamun lassi? Next level.
Yum! Not chai? Tell me you drink chai every day.
Pratyush: Do I get points deducted if I say ‘no?’
Oh, I guess we can forgive you. After all, you’re our hero! Speaking of heroism, what’s the first monster you killed?
Pratyush: The one that killed my parents . . .
We’re so sorry for your loss. Was that the toughest monster you’d fought?
Pratyush: In a way, because I was young and didn’t know what was happening. If you mean a real challenge, I’d say the giant arachnids in the ravine. Projectile, indestructible webbing is no joke.
That’s why you’re the slayer and not us! If you weren’t a slayer, what would you be?
Pratyush: A farmer. Like my parents. A quiet life with no people or monsters around. Just me and, um…my wife.
Ooh! Do you have a special girl in your life?
Pratyush: There’s a certain temple priestess.
Forbidden love? We adore a good love story! Do you plan on asking her to marry you?
Pratyush: When I have my affairs in order. But first…there’s one last monster I must slay. They call her the Serpent Queen.
