So said Entertainment Weekly when they placed the first book in the Heroes of Olympus series on their list of best YA novels from 2010-2019. We think all Uncle Rick’s books are the best of the past two decades, but it’s nice to see that EW agrees with us. It’s an impressive list of books, including such powerful stories as The Hate U Give, The Fault in our Stars, and Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Percy stands tall among such esteemed company.

Riordan told EW in 2010 about the importance of detective novels in his own writing. “Percy Jackson’s narrative voice was shaped a great deal by the wisecracking PIs of noir fiction.”
