November 1 is a big day, not only because we’re getting serious about Thanksgiving, but also because it’s National Author’s Day. So we thought we’d take this opportunity to start giving thanks early and spell out all the reasons we’re thankful for Rick Riordan.
He’s given us all our favorite series, from Percy to Apollo.
From our first encounter with Percy Jackson to the last pages of The Tower of Nero, Rick has dreamed up stories, characters, and events that made us love reading, mythology, history, and even U.S. geography. His ability to surprise, devastate, and delight never ceases to amaze us, including in his latest, Daughter of the Deep.
He’s hands-on with Hollywood.
There’s so much to anticipate and so much in the works. Head to RickRiordan.com for all the updates. We’re hopeful we get the amazing film and television adaptations his stories so richly deserve. One thing is certain: when they happen, they’ll be Rick-approved.
He champions other authors.
Rick Riordan Presents has been a real gift to his grateful readers, hasn’t it? And it’s not only because of the great stories. It’s because of the rich, specific, and varied voices from the dazzlingly talented writers he’s brought into the fold. We’ve been thrilled to discover all these impressive writers, thanks to Rick’s introduction. And we couldn’t have asked for a better pay-off than The Cursed Carnival and Other Calamities.
He gives us great new novels like Daughter of the Deep.
We know we’ve mentioned it already, but it’s so good, right? It’s yet another novel rooted in mythic storytelling. It’s fitting that Rick would take inspiration from a pioneer like Jules Verne in diving into his first sci-fi adventure. And yet it’s as fresh and thrilling as anything he’s written. But don’t take our word for it. Get your hands on a copy and read it ASAP!
One word: Solangelo.
It’s a dream come true, isn’t it? And we’re sure his co-authorship with Mark Oshiro will bring even more excitement to one of our favorite demigod supercouples. Click here for all the details.
