More about Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano
Reyna Avila Ramírez-Arellano is the daughter of the Roman war goddess Bellona, and like her mother, she is a strong, dedicated military leader—though when she was young, she and her older sister. Hylla, tried to avoid this calling by becoming handmaidens to Circe, a sorceress. She might have been on Circe’s island still if not for Percy Jackson (long story).
Reyna is now a praetor at Camp Jupiter. As befits her position, she wears a purple toga decorated with medals over Imperial gold armor and carries an Imperial gold knife. Her arm tattoo displays four slash marks for the four years she has lived at the camp, the initials SPQR, and a sword crossed with a torch, the symbols of her mother. She has two automaton dogs: Aurum, who is made of gold, and Argentum, who is made of silver. Both dogs can tell if someone is lying, an ability Reyna finds quite helpful.
Not that most people would lie to her—with her piercing black eyes, tidy black braid, and natural fighter’s stance, she’s an intimidating, no-nonsense figure. But like all strong leaders, she has a compassionate side, too. As Bellona’s daughter, she can empower others by lending them her own inner strength and energy. She uses this ability to help Nico di Angelo shadow-travel. And she was heartbroken when she had to put down her exhausted pegasus, Scipio.
